Slight misfire

Today and last time I was out in the griff, it has misfired after being stopped and then restarted.ie call to see friends , running fine when we got there. Came out after a while and then it missed for a couple of miles. Not a heavy misfire but you can feel it.


Going to check the HT leads and rotor arm tomorrow. But it seems strange how it clears.

Can anyone suggest how to tell if a misfire is ignition or fuel induced?

Good try ,but if its a precat without this facility.Plus I am sure its more like HT fault

Err I'm not sure that the precat didn't have the diagnostic plug on the wiring loom?

I can email you a photo of the plug if you want.

pull out the plugs and inspect their condition.

if a plug looks like it has been burning incorrectly then clean the plugs and reinstall.then swap the lead for one at the front of one of the banks and run the engine again.

If the plug is fouled again in the same position but it is a different lead then it has to be the plug or an injector issue.If not, its lead time

Thanks 64er, hopefully it wont be leads as I have magnecors and hopefully it wont be injectors as they are the bosch pinkies....

Going to pull the plugs now, dont poeple suffer with Dizzy caps and rotors too?

Pulled the plugs and they all seem rather black and sooty.
But the car was ticking over for a few minutes before I removed them so maybe this has blackened them.
Took pics of them , anybody care to recieve them and take a look for me?

sounds like overfuelling or a weak spark though if they are all like it.
