I need to do the rocker cover gaskets on my 4.3 (and the exhaust manifold gaskets)while I am at it I think I will change the rockers while its all apart. Did them on my 5.0 with standard ally parts, suprised how worn they were to be hounest. I have seen steel sets for little more than the standar items, are they worth it with a standard cam from a wear point of veiw or is there other issues?

The pads on the ally ones are still steel so will wear at the same rate. Its a problem of the pads becoming unstuck and throwing a spanner in the works! The full steel ones are also heavier so theoretically will put more load on the valve train. If there is nothing wrong with yours leave well alone, and spend the lolly on something that makes a differance.

I'll second the above. No point adding weight when it's not needed.

Were these a direct swap, or did you need to change pushrods as well?

Do they fit under the standard rocker covers?

I have the early 'TVR' cast covers and they fit just fine.
