I like Claire Short. She is consistent.
She is consistently a thorn in Bliars side,.. Hurrah!
I think she is right to let her feelings be known at this critical point and not so concerned with her cabinet position to stick her neck out.

This week is going to be pretty interesting.

She is that rare thing a politician with principles that she values more than power. Don't agree with her but I do admire her courage ....

Much as I am far from a fan of politicians in general, I have to admire somebody who can stick with principles to this extent. The other one I admire greatly (although despise for his leanings) is Tony Benn. Aside of his wit, he has stuck doggedly to his daft ideas for decades, and like other controversial figures, such as Enoch Powell, you find that they do speak a lot of sense. With the new era of spin and lies it is refreshing to hear the views of the old school of politicians. Makes you realise how bad things have become.

Hats off to her.
Watching an interview this morning with some jobsworth, the interviewer asked if Blair could sit around the table with somebody who had called him "reckless".WTF. I'd want to sit with people who were honest and not a bunch of arse kissers agreeing with everything I said.
aarrgghh..

A little two-faced saying it all on TV rather than to his face first. Still good though!

What would happen if Tony decided "Fack this for a game of soldiers, I need some support right now not this lot of fair-weather friends - I'm going to cross the Chamber" and joined the Conservatives? Would he still be PM?

I think her timing stinks, she should have talked to him directly, and far from displaying courage her bleeding heart liberal stance is indicative of a distinct lack of backbone. Good riddance.

So Claire Short should bite her lip and keep quiet?
Thats not her way and she is respected by many for telling it like she sees it.

I'm with Phil and Victor on this one, how the hell is any party going to lead the country if everyone has their own personal agenda, she's a Labour MP and is supposed to support her leader.
The UN is destroying itself because certain Nations have their own agenda and would sooner support SH than strengthen the Alliance of Europe, good move guys. Imagine the armed forces acting in this manner

Short keeps job in Iraq row
Rebel cabinet minister Clare Short has kept her job but effectively been cut adrift by Tony Blair after her devastating attack on his leadership.

The prime minister has spoken to her twice by phone since she branded him "reckless" over his plans for Iraq.

He stopped short of firing her - for now at least - insisting that the top priority is winning a second UN resolution sanctioning action against Saddam Hussein.

But BBC News Online political correspondent Nick Assinder said the prime minister's official spokesman made it crystal clear that Ms Short's career in the cabinet is probably over.

Time and again during the daily news briefing, the spokesman refused to say that the prime minister had full confidence in Ms Short.
