Aluminium Dash?

A while back someone was making an aluminium dash that fits directly on top of the walnut version, can anyone remember who this was and if they are still available?

Also what alternatives are there?

I thought Leven did a direct replacement Jules, but cant see it on their website.

The previous owner of my car got a sheet of checker plate, used the old walnut one as a template and cut out an ally dash. Looks very nice too, if I say so myself

With my DIY skills its not something I'd take on, but it seems simple enough

Just fitted a Leven dash on mine, so much better than the fake wood one (IMO)

Leven do still sell them as I spoke with Simon about them last week. I think they are about £120.00, got mine off ebay though

One last upgrade cyclone before you sell eh?

I am sure that Leven do sell them, but I can remember someone who made a few that fitted over the existing fake wooden one, I am sure some pics were posted and it looked great, it might be the one that FUBAR is referring too.

I'm sure any half-decent engineering workshop would be able to make one up for you if one can't be bought off the shelf any longer.

I recently made my own out of stainless steel plate with the spiral finish. The plate was about 1.5mm thick and I used a simple hole saw to cut out the holes. Aluminium would of been easier and cheaper. Soon after I found a company that did engraving and their milling machine was able to work from an AutoCAD drawing. I have an AutoCAD drawing if anyone is interested. I was given a rough estimate price of £70 for the two dash components. Cheaper if multiples are made since the expense is in the sheet of material and a 1200mm x 600mm sheet would be large enough for 6 dash plates. The materials available are great - you could get a carbon fibre sheet that looks really good. I took me about 3 hours to actually change the dash over but I was being very methodical and careful.

Did your guys give you any estimate of what it would cost for the carbon sheet? I quite fancy a carbon dash in mine - it already has black carpets and black dials against the Portland leather!

There is a carbon film (vinyl look alike) that could so easliy be stuck over the orignal dash, then just cut round the holes etc... I wouldn't think anyone could tell the differnce from the real deal?

Might do that on the old one to see what it looks like.

Bugger why didn't I think of that before fitting the Leven dash last week!!!

We can supply the metal Dash and switch plate, Ex-stock
They are actually Stainless Steel with a check pattern.
(We have found this to be better than Aluminium)

I got one of these about a year ago...still not fitted it...:-(


Main problem is the water temp gauge...the gauge's pipe is 'hard wired' into the back - so you have to unfix it from the engine bay itself and thread it through the bulk head to change...and then thread it back...

...so beware...it is not as small a job as it first seems

Hmmmm. I think the previous owner stuck the original dash in a box with other bits when I bought the car (I really should see what else is in the box ), I could do it to that .

And I think I placed an order at Austec today for a CF rear parcel shelf (which looks ). I was trying to buy the display model then the chap who had bought that (is Manou on PH?) turned up to get it fitted so Paul was ordering some more and I think I said Id have one
