The mudgaurds on my vintage car are looking a bit tatty, the pro' refurbishment is way outside what I can afford so decided to have a go myself. I shall remove as mush rust as possible and rub down the paintwork. Apply rust killer, then fill damaged areas. Smooth down whole and apply a primer/basecoat to whole.
For the finish my Bro' suggested 'brushing cellulose' using a high quality brush. Am I on the right lines here and is 'brushing cellulose different to the spray stuff

TBH the problem is that the mudgaurds are rusty and have been patched up for lots of years. For a complete pro' refurbishment in proper metal I was given an estimate of about 3000 quid. And I had to remove them, have them grit blasted, have them painted after the metal work by the pro', then re-attach to car. I have no doubt at all that the gaurds would be superb and last another 75 years but I cannot afford that sort of money.
On the other hand I have been offered a price for the gaurds to be rubbed down, cleaned of rust, rust proof applied and sprayed to a high standard for 700 quid. I am tho concerned that this option would leave me with the same problem in 2/3 years time.
I suppose I cannot afford the job I would like done but am wary of throwing away money on a very short term solution. I realise something has to give I guess. What do you reckon?

Thing is, are you happy to do all the hard and dirty work yourself? It's not difficult, you just need the right tools and patience.
Is you get so far and can't get any further then you may need to resort to one of the quotes (the cheaper one!). Have you a picture of them? How bad are they?
