Hi All

Just bought back my old 2001 PPP impreza, to use as a track day car. The guy since has put on a blitz timer, and dump valve. Its still a quick car, but now, when i really drive it to the 3/3 rev range,i get a hesitant 1-2secs, almost like the turbo has cut out etc. Never did this before, could it be anything to do with the timer etc?

Cheers

Almost deffo not the timer, timers are just glorified alarm clocks. Possibly the dump valve depending on type etc but for my money it'll be in the region of a scooby map type thang, erm... In my humble opinion I think.
All the best.

Thanks.. to be honest, i just find the dump valve a bit of a pain, does not seemed to have done anything to the performance, except for now it makes a stupid noise..

Yes that's about it for a dumper, also IMHO, don't know about scoobies but a recirculating type works real well in the Niss RB25DET engines- stealthier too

Yep, get a recirc put back on asap.

Lots of possibilities, fuel cut, boost solenoid.....

I would pop over to www.22b.com and ask there.
They have a huge knowledge base for technical advice.

Imprezas don't deal very well with dump valves and they cause excessive wear to the turbo if i recall correctly. The kangaroo thing could be a number of things, its happened to me before because the garage overfilled it with oil.

Try scoobynet as well, there's a fairly good pool of knowledge there even if there's a few too many max power types lurking.

Does it have a MAF? It could be the dump valve pissing it off.
