Good news is that it started first kick yesterday.

It ran for 3 seconds, oil pressure didnt come up so I killed it. Looked underneath and there was oil everywhere..... there was a bung missing in the oil cooler adaptor plate.

I fitted a bung and started it again. It was running fine at idle but died when I opened the throttle.

We first blamed the supercharger belt, as it had caught some oil.We cleaned that but then it wouldnt start.

The first suspect was spark, but that was fine... check both sides just in case as the LS has different circuits for each bank.

Supect #2 is obviously fuel. I didnt have the fuel pressure gauge hooked up, so I cracked a fuel line and it had "some" pressure there. Unfortunately it was getting dark so I packed it up.

Spent a couple of hours on LS1tech.com last night and if its not fuel pressure, the next place to check is that all the sensors are attached properly and the earths are all good.

I was stoked that it started first kick, and also that it sound very civilized with the cats only, it will definitely pass noise emissions with that setup and does not sound like a 600hp beast at idle, it sounds like a normal everyday car. YAY!

Congratulations party! I found this to be a turning point in the project and it deffinitely helped kick start my enthusiasm, trouble is, the patience then took a bit of a beating. Do you have a date to work to or is this a 'softly softly catch e monkey' type of project? Either way, keep on truckin' old buddy, we are right with you.
I see that you have already driven an Ultima (Jeff's on the Power Tour), so the first drive of your own car will not be to much of an unfamiliar feel and that can only be a good thing, but I am willing to bet that now you have had a taster, it must be torture waiting for the first drive in your own car.bandit

Crafty,

when I first started my LS6 engine I encountered the same problems: engine fired, then died after a few seconds.
The "problem" with my engine (and with all modern LSx engines) is that they need a considerable amount of electric power, which the standard Ultima wiring harness can`t supply. In the beginning I connected the engine power line to the green(?) wire that says something like "ECU +". In case you`ve done that too you should first check your fuses (then the ones of your car) as there`s only a 10 amp fuse.
The engine wiring harness has it`s own fuse box made of 4 or 5 20 amp fuses, so you need to have a separate battery + wire which is connected directly to the battery which will then provide sufficient power.
Hope this helps

I've heard that somewhere before and was thinking, saving space and rear mufflers only build some special? made cats that also work like mufflers and bang you have two in one and save weight and money and space...I would like such setup:yep: don't know if thats aloud for SVA but me thinks...why not? when its within the noise limit and environment..why not pass
good luck and have fun with your special car...

well..... that was all far too easy... it was out of fuel.

I'd put 10 litres in it on Sunday, I guess the foam in the fuel tanks and the fuel lines sapped all of that up.

Starts first time, runs like a dream, quiet as a pussy cat until you open it and then it screams like a banshee
