Transfering Euro's to Sterling, Help!!

Peeps, I need a bit of advice please.

If someone is transfering Euro's from overseas to a UK bank account and converting it into Sterling, what would be the most cost affective way re exchange rates of receiving this money? Also is there anything to be wary of?

I believe there was a thread about this before but my search button doesn't come up at work for some reason!!
