Anyone else noticed the limits on cars and people on the pitches this year?

1 Car and 4 passengers (So assume 5 total if including the driver).

Makes it even more expensive now considering everyone I know goes down in either 1 or 2 per car.

Hasnt it always been like this?

Aitrack were certainly worth the premium for the security and peace of mind and also the much cleaner and large number of showers and toilets etc...

Airtrack have been pricing on that basis for years. Essentially, they price by the plot.

And their entry tickets are very expensive.

I'd have said that meant 4 people (driver and three passengers).

Hi all,

I am a Le Mans virgin, and have been reading up a bit on it all. I have just looked at Airtrack and the Village package they do. Has anyone done this and could they offer an unbiased opinion on it all. There are 4 of us in a RR Sport going over, so plenty of room. Just wondered on what you all thought

Thanks

Craig

Indeed. Quite rude tbh. I'd have left the bloody car where it was if I'd have known you were going to talk to her the way some of your group did. Let me know where your pitching and we'll go downt he other end. hehe

So rule of thumb is they've had these limits in for ages then?

hi matt,
On behalf of my associates i whole heartedly apologise for any upset we may have caused to your good lady and, of course, yourself.
The problem we have, you see, goes like this:
We are 18 to 20 blokes who not only look forward to le mans for a comparitively speaking, dismal fifty one weeks of the year, but ... we have only the day before, escaped the confines of married life and all of the joys attached. Coupled with an average party age of aprox. seven and a half, and the adrenaline fuelled run from northern england at twice the speed of sound (except for le chef in the volvo estate) and you quite simply have a recipe for high spirits.
I don't want to create a big fuss about this, but why not pop by next year for a beer, and perhaps bring the wife .... we will be in exactly the same spot (all being well)
beer, rick

No worries, it doesn't bother me that much more the women that were with us and when you then have to put up with the "Men are pigs" etc etc etc comments for the few hours after it drags a little hehe

If the team are out again next year we'll pop over and say hello. Or maybe you guys will when I get there early and park the arse of my Cerb in your pitch again.. silly

if you are talking about their hospitality package, I have experienced it 1 year (for free) - its good if you dont ever want to cook for yourself etc - basically you get breakfast, lunch, dinner - everything at one of their tents...but its mega expensive IMO for what it is...and you miss out on alot of the fun of self catering with your group

..if theres just 2 of you and its your first year, an dyou dont mind the cost then by all means, you get well looked after......if you are a group and can rustlu up some kit and supplies between you then its much more fun to self-cater

hi craig,
we have only ever stayed at the airtrack village .... sure it's a tad more pricey, but we enjoy a perimeter security fence (that works), clean loos and showers, BOG PAPER ! and hot water if you're up early enough to beat the queue.
coupled with a pre reserved and marked out 8m x 5m pitch, electricity if required and grass if you're lucky, we feel it represents good value.
you will need high tensile tent pegs and a good mallet, and i would advise you not to take advantage of the "airtrack" tent hire service.
cheers, d

I was told this last year and thought yeah yeah whatever.

I have NEVER tried to hammer into ground as hard before! biglaugh We ended up getting 5"-6" nails and panel repair washers in the end to get our tents to stay up! hehe

I've done the Airtrack village for last couple of years.

Pricey but certainly worth every penny, especially if you have a woman on board or you don't want to really really slum it.

Proper hot water without any waiting at the showers. Regularly cleaned bogs/showers, toilet roll and some very good security (a god send seeing as thefts seem to be getting worse every year)

But best of all.

Perform some donuts in the field and they'll provide free beer!laugh
