My Dad just received a speeding notice of doing 40 in a 30 zone. Instead of getting a ticket with fine and points, he got just a notice with a yellow card warning. He was nabbed by the community speed watch not got a life volunteers team which Id never heard of till now. Im sure volunteer work in a hospice etc would be far more benefitting to the community.
Question is, what happens when you get a red card, and if it's bad is it best to fight this case and get rid of the yellow? I imagine this is the sort of thing prosecutors will hold against you if you get done again.

Did it come in the post via the Police?

Not sure of the legality involved in dishing out the home address of a registered keeper by DVLA.

That to came across my mind, but instead with a Lancashire hot pot.

Yeah did come from the police. Apparently the volunteers notified the police after we did this horrendous crime. The letter has come about 30 days after the incident.

It's a well trodden PH thread topic. They are legal, they are police sponsored, they do not have access to names and addresses, they pass reg no's and speeds to the police who then issue letters. In theory if you get 2 you are subsquently "targetted" by the police force in question.

Perhaps letter asking if the eyesight of those logging the reg no is/can be verified as up to standard, after all most of these units are composed of OAP - and then contesting the reg , especially if some letters could be read wrong by an OAP with long distance vision problems
