The article on todays ED news, said that "440" has ceased to be

Having read Issue one - including one very funny article - I thought that issue 2 was out in October

What's happened?

I thought they (440) had basically said, if they didnt get enough subs, they wouldnt bother.

I would have liked to sub, but I thought it looked expensive, cant remember the costs now, but it was never going to replace the old UKDRN.

I did sent a cheque to 440 magazine for the next (October) issue but sadly the cheque was sent back with a letter explaining that the level of subsciption was not enough to support the costs of running the magazine. Shame really and I would like to thank the guys at 440 magazine for a least trying to bring out a new drag racing mag.

excuse my ignorance... but what alternative is there to UKDRN? I was sad to see my £15 sub returned for 440.

I currently subscribe to CC and was somewhat dismayed that they dropped Street Elim coverage/sponsorship, and i quit my ACW when it dumped the 'Street Machine' title.

Theres only ONE place to go for all your Drag race news these days, Eurodragster.com.
Yes, I know its not quite the same as holding a nice glossy mag in your paw, and yes it would be nice if they had the time to do some more in depth articles on racers.I think Tog and co do a damn fine job.

The letter reads as follows:

"We very much regret that due to lack of demand, we are suspending publication of 440 Magazine and enclose our cheque to cover your subscription.

The commercial reality is that without sufficient demand (and therefore subscriptions), the title is not commercially viable.

May we say how much we have appreciated your commitment, support and custom. It is regrettable that there just aren't more folks out there who share your vision, but that's life.

We wish you well and thank you again for your support.

With best regards"

Clive, I suspect that they may have a few cheques to write, but if you do not get anything by the end of the week you could try ringing Mark Newby. I have the phone number if you need this.

I also think both Mark and Colin Fallows have had other issues to deal with this last couple of weeks...

They will, I am sure, attend to everyones cheques as soon as they can.

Thanks Jim and Jon. I'm certainly not panicking over it. Yes, I must admit the idea of Mark Newby having other things on his mind did occur to me a few weeks ago.
