Hi

I downloaded a song called 'hold me' via p2p on monday, but as the only instance of it listed after searching, was as an 'm4a' file, i thought it better to get anything rather than nothing...

...Trouble is tho, my ms-win-media-player an winamp-lite progs dont recognise it!

* so how do i convert it for playing in a more normal format of say: mp3, wma, or even wav!?

Could've sworn we had this exact same question not so long ago.
In any event, aside from searching, download and use iTunes to convert it.
That or spend time searching on www.versiontracker.com for something else that'll do it.

weird thing is, only a day later an i found the same file again though as welcome MP3 !

still, i must confess, i'd like a prog which converts m4a anyway - an so i'm now off to find that 'iTunes' thingy.

ps- does an ipod play m4a without any fuss?

iTunes and iPod will play .m4a files just fine. iTunes will also do the conversion to MP3.

Yes, it seems to pop up quite regularly.. But as Dude said, iTunes and iPods etc will play it just fine.
Im not a fan of transcoding them to another format myself mind, but thats another subject.

Errm, the point is to then use iTunes to play ALL your music files through - MP3, M4A, and view videos with as well - since it includes Quicktime.
