A long time forum lurker, now making first post.....

I've just bought a 1988 928 S4 from an official Porsche dealer - 2 owners, 26250 miles, 12 month warranty, full Porsche history. 26k miles in 14 years! Car spent most of its life in Guernsey.

I've owned a 996 C2, and currently Boxster S, and build quality on 928, though seriously dated, puts them both to shame.

I'm well pleased with it - it'll make a great motorway work horse.

Nice one andrewiz. I love 928's (although I've never owned one).

You can't go wrong with a 12 month OPC warranty but I'd be interested how much you paid for the car, and which OPC you got it from ?

Splendid; with so few miles and being a Channel Islander, it's presumably in the appropriate time warp condition?

Over to Le France, eh, for a spot of high velocity cylinder cleansing?

The people who developed the 928 did it whilst exposed to Wagner's Ring Cycle.

It is a car of the Gods. Make sure it has the optional retractive claxxon with original Third Reich remix featuring Ya-Kidd K (innit, fanx!), so that forays down the Bugelfugalstrasse at 165 mph can be accompanied by the requisite verbal volley... Achtung! Schnell, schnell!

Hail.

Great choice, enjoy the car, blow out the cobwebs and relax while you cruise at warp factor velocities (strictly where legal of course )

Thanks for comments chaps - I'm dead chuffed with it. It's in great nick, built like the preverbial bank vault.

Stuart - cambelt appears not to have been changed since 1994 - is that a problem?

Change 'em every 70k miles.

Other than that, select 'Hammer of Thor' mode.

Andrew

My advice get it replaced now, belt needs to be replaced every 4 years no matter the how many the miles done, will cost about £300 to replace say JM auto's or JZ mactech speak to jonas at JZ, and change the water pump at the same time and possible rebuild the tensioner, i dont want to rain on your parade, but i dont want to here about it breaking, they are great cars i use my GT every day glad to see another 28 convert, sit back and enjoy.

Thanks Stuart - I've bought a few cars from the OPC now, so I'll try and get it changed gratis. Failing that, I'll look elsewhere - are JM/JZ near Yorkshire?

any chance of some piccies ?
there is a nice marron/mauve ish 928 lives down the street from me. I must give the owner a wave next time I drive past in my 911.
I'm beginning to like the look of the 928. Anyone know if Porsche are going to make something similar again ?

Nice drive. Though the chap whose 968 I test drive last night reckoned the 928 he had needed a BP tanker in tow...
