Ok, so I'm gonna start getting some bits together to make the R6 better than new. However, parts are hard to come by, so does anyone know somewhere other than Fleabay where I can source parts? I'm guessing Yamaha are gonna be expensive and will take 8 years to arrive? (Fairing, can, fairing bolts, sprocket, chain, "nosecone"
If anyone has any thoughts, I'd be grateful to hear them!

Cheers.

Might have a red fairing set for sale in a couple of months if you fancy a change of colour.

I'd suggest looking for someone racing an R6, selling the road parts removed to fund their racing habit. Probably slim pickings with a new bike.

Steve.

Chilli,

Why do you need a chain & sprocket?? how many miles have you done?? You would normally get around 16,000 - 18,000 miles out of a chain and sprocket set, well I do anyway

For the fairing and other bits why not keep looking on Ebay especially for the can or what about getting your plastics repaired & sprayed and then putting original Yamaha stickers/vinyls back on once repaired scratchchin

Hello mate,

Just that they are covered in crap, and I've tried washing them!! easier to get new ones for the weekend blats!! Yeah, I keep ebay open all day every day. Might see if I can get someone to repair/respray "some bits" as there is a scratch or two on the swing arm as well!
ps - 8,500 miles at the mo.

- Rear shock (still fitted at present)
- Standard exhaust (not fitted at present)
- Sockets/chain (fitted at present)
- Rearsets (fitted at present)
- Mirrors (fitted at present)
- Original Screen (not fitted at present)

If you're interested in any/all of it let me know.

- Rear shock (still fitted at present) - £50
- Standard exhaust (not fitted at present) - £25
- Sockets/chain (fitted at present) - £??
- Rearsets (fitted at present) - £100
- Mirrors (fitted at present) - £15 pair
- Original Screen (not fitted at present) - £15
- Tailtidy (fitted at present) - £25
- Pillion footrest (not fitted at present) - £15 pair

And maybe....

Ain't going to be using it on the road next year so may as well convert it into a track bike.

Have considered selling it & buying a track prepared bike which would probably be a slightly cheaper option, but do like this bike & also it will give me something to do over winter.

I just never use the thing these days on the road (probably 100 road miles in last month). Might as well have an awesome track weapon for next year.

If I can sell the stuff I ain't going to be needing for approx. 1k then this will pay for the track bodywork & rear shock which is what its crying out for. I can add the rest on an ongoing basis.

Could all change yet though.

Chilli, don't worry about the crap on the fairings, that'll all get sorted in the preparation process before spraying, even if there are a few small holes these can be repaired. Why not give George White Yamaha a call just by Shoreditch. They use some guy/firm up north for all their spraying. There was a 2006 R6 in there last week which had just had the full Rossi/Camel livery and the finsh was superb.

I am thinking of having all my bodywork and tank sprayed metallic black as my R1's bodywork is starting to show the mileage and I always wanted a Black R1 anyway

Andy,
Must admit, the paint shop is becoming a favourite idea. I will give White's a ring...forgot they were there actually. S'pose I could just drop it off there one day.

Many thanks.
