Just wondering if anyone here does much cycling on the Grand Union Canal. I live near Leighton Buzzard so have been doing a few trecks south (from Watford back to LB) and North (up past Milton Keynes). For my next journey i intend to do Leighton Buzzard to Stoke Bruerne and back again. Highly recommend it both ways - lots of nice pubs and some lovely scenery (and the only hills you get are at locks

Those canal paths are a bugger for punctures though!

You need a permit to ride a bicycle of British Waterways' tow paths. AFAIK they are downloadable from their web site - free.

Its just a bit of paper that you print out yourself and sign. Takes 2 minutes.

As the canal paths are generally well maintained, you might find you get fewer punctures if you pump your tyres up a bit harder.
