I have an '99 vintage Blue and White Powermac G3 tower that I want to bring out of retirement for a time, it'll be going in a bedroom well away from the router so I need to get it hooked up to my wireless network.

Have found a Belkin card that will do, my question is, will it work? I'll be running OSX on the machine and I presume it'll 'see' the card in the same way that my Powerbook does my wireless card in the PC card slot.

Anyone know?

Does the card have OSX drivers? If it does not come with them then it won't work. OSX has drivers for Airport cards only.

There are no drivers, and Belkin told me it wouldn't work, for my PC card wireless card that I have in my Powerbook, but that works.

There is a Sonnet wireless PCI card I've seen on a mac upgrades website which also doesn't name specific drivers so I think the chances of it working are fairly good.

There are some inexpensive USB wireless dongles that will work, as OS X can support them. Im not generally a fan of using usb for networking, but then i've not tried every possible combination of it either, so it could well still be worth a shot. Particularly as the USB wireless dongles are cheap these days.
I know D-Link make some that work in OS X, and im certain other companies make them also.

Cheers, P

I have a spare Belkin USB dongle, but OSX support for them seems patchy, plus it doesn't work on my Powerbook so I'd guess that rules it out for the G3.
