I just spotted a very chavved up Scooby dumpvalving its way through Reading, complete with baseball cap at silly angle and bonnet-sticker personal number "plate" and so on. If it had been an Escort it would have been that car from the Alas Smith & Jones sketch - Kev's Car. (I think the personal plate might have been Kev something anyway as it happens )

Anyway what caught my eye in the wing mirror as he went past the other way was he'd put yellow and red chevron stickers across the width of the vertical bit of the boot, giving it the impression (from the back) of being a Highways Agency vehicle or, more likely, to make people think he might be BiB from a distance (for god knows what reason).

So I'm curious, what's the legality of that kind of "decoration"?

The use of reflective stickers etc is covered by lighting regs in CUR as an external reflective surface counts as a light for those purposes.

I think that restricts the colours (showing white to the rear is a no-no), but reflective red is fine. I'm not sure about yellow - seems to be ok on AA vans and your numberplate so why not. Anything that makes your rear more obvious must be a good thing (Ms Lopez).

I agree, if it makes the back more visible, why not? In fact, why don't all cars have them?

Fair enough, just struck me as odd.

I know one shouldn't really judge a book by its cover, but this particular cover had a large font, in bold
