Road Angel saved bacon!

Borrowed my wifes RA for the trip down to my mums (Sheffield to Brighton) and it alerted me to a SPECS system on the M1 Southbound just before the M25. Would have gone straight thru it, clear motorway!

Can anyone tell me why these cameras are here and why are they (and the gatsos on the M25) not yellow?

Not sure as to why they are not yellow (they should be, the others seem to be) but I found an interesting bit on the Speedcheck website (who make SPECS systems), the bit about "restricted edition for police only" on the webpage is a bit odd!!!!!!!

My RA picked those SPECS up the other day!
Must admit I would have been going well over 70 as well I'm not sure they are active yet/ i would have thought at least one person off here would have found out about it by now I live not far from those SPECS camera's in the facist state of Northamptonshire They have no yellow on them either but there are speed camera sign's. The ones on the M1 havn't the moblie camera's in Northampton are more of a problem. If you get off at J15 and head east they have a van on the first bridge, it sits over the other side of the road so is hard to spot.
