S Vs V8S

Reliability and running costs wise, whats the difference between the V6 and the V8?

Petrol I would have thought.

If you go to the right place, the servicing costs are very similar.

Not sure about parts costs but can't think they're hugely different between the two engines. Throttle cable is a lot more expensive - £60 opposed to, I think, £20?

Ive owned an S2 and a V8S and apart from fuel the normal running costs are about the same, servicing, reliability parts etc.... If you are thinking to which one to buy, if you can afford the V8S, buy it, its better in every way. Also the build quality got better on the later cars so the 92 -94 cars are a little better put together, that was my impression anyway.

That was back when it was standard. The costs have ramped up considerably since then, but that's self inflicted!

Potentially a V8s has one hidden extra cost

More dental work - because you WILL smile more - if that is possible, with any s.

I cannot help grinning from ear to ear EVERY time the key is turned, and even on a wet grey Sunday one turn produces a roar, burble and grin from us both. Not too much right foot today though !!!!

Its a fair cop....

Part of my problem is that I knew I wanted a TVR *well* before I was realistically going to get around to buying and housing the thing....

Added to this is the fact that I want an estate and a daily hack...

Plus I am addicted to talking about / finding out about cars....

Hi Jon, I'm lucky enough to have an S2 and a V8S and thorougly enjoy them both. I've no idea about costs as I choose not to think about them! The S2 is louder and feels like more fun (they tend to be slightly less well put together and 'flex' a bit more) and still feels quick. The V8S is a more 'sophisticated' ride and obviously quicker, but I don't actually know which is more fun. Whichever you choose, they're great! Dave

Mmm, yes it's louder, but it is quite a loud one. The V8 is loud too, but different. Love 'em both though. You're welcome to have a look if you're ever around here.

As for which is louder, I agree, my S2 was louder than the V8, however the V8 got the job done without making such a fuss and was a lot more refined.

I moved house a bit after I came up to see you....
Got the garage I was after [as we discussed] but also got a 200 year old wreck to rebuild

Kinda put things on hold....but now I have an empty garage in sight!
