power steering overheating?

hi have a hsv 5.7 ls1 - keep getting fluid blowing past the hoses on the power steering header tank - not a massive leak but still enough to warrant a top up every week

the tank gets very hot! - which makes me think it may be pressurising the system...

any idea if there is a quick fix?

will drilling a small hole in the cap help or will it just contaminate the fluid?

fresh thicker fluid? additive?

I've heard of some cars running oil coolers plumbed into the power steering fluid to keep temperatures down.
