Hi all..

Since my recent experience with A.Insurancecompany and the Chimaera being uninsured, they have just sent me my renewal through for the Landrover. This arrived the day after that insurance expired (despite them having had it from the underwriters 4 weeks earlier), so I even managed a day driving that without insurance too...

Accordingly does anyone know where I can get a cheap classic/landrover policy for <1000 miles a year at a decent price..?

Any thoughts most welcome.

Cheers
Matt.

Had my classic Range Rover insured with adrian flux or Lancaster (can't remember which)

Very good though

For my classic vehicles when I had them, I used Classicline, also pretty good, but the big question is do you want it insured for theft at night at home if it is not garaged. If so then most Classic type policies are not for you (though Norton Insurance Brokers in Birmingham used to do an 'off-road overnight cover policy'

If you can't get a Classic policy then because its not garaged, then you'll have to use the usual suspects.

I know that you haven't had good quotes out of Tesco's in the past but they insure my 2001 Defender Td5 CSW fully comp for a mere £249 (There is full protected no cliams on that)

Another one to try would be the NFU, you may have to join NFU countrywide (about £35 a year) but you may make a significant saving.

Thanks for the thoughts so far guys.. It is off the road but not garaged... (you'd have to move 3 other cars to get at it mind you)... NFU wont touch it as its over 25 years old.. (1967)

Will try classicline now..

My lightweight was insured with adrian flux. It was a 73 and parked on the road with an annual mileage limit of 5000 miles (as if... I'd be deaf by now) and that cost me 120 a year.

Mark

My series 1 is insured through Footman James. 70 quid a year limited to 3000 miles, it is garaged but I guess worth a look...

Firebond were bloody cheap when I had my Range Rover - they advertise in the LRO magazine and also in lots of the classic car rags.

Direct Line £699 F/C unlimited mileage, Firebond £275 for the same cover. (No NCB as used elsewhere, I am 30 by the way)

Hope this helps, Chris

My Dad insures my old LR with Adrian Flux for about £100 per year... have always found them competitive for LR quotes - even when I was 17!

Footman James? Sureterm?

Do you get LROi? There's normally LOADS of insurance companies in the back of there.

I insure my Series III with Heritage Insurance (0121 246 6060) for £146 fully comp with breakdown cover, 5000 miles, on the drive overnight, agreed value - I've not been with them for long but they seem to be very helpful.
