Just wondering if anyone knows what type of oil is used for the clutch? Mine's a bit black looking and I'm thinking of changing it. Is it an easy job for a reasonable garage?
Sorry about the previous post below, forgot to give it a title and not sure how to delete it.

I'm sure I read somewhere that it going black is normal and happens very quickly after new stuff is put in?

I could be going mentalist of course.

Has it got black lumps in it? If so, you might have boiled it (like I did).

Apparently changing the fluid requires a 'special monaro tool' (and I'm not talking about the dodgy Mechanic) so it needs to go to a 'Monaro specialist' who has access to said tool.

My change cost me £50 in Birmingham and I used 5.1 uprated fluid.

Thanks for that. Another trip to Edinburgh then unless my nearest Vauxhall dealer can get hands on said tool confused

no special tool from what I heard - just got to accept you're going to get covered in fluid when you try to drain it due to the position of the bleed nut. Roger from Monkfish said something about it being recessed and fiddly to reach. Maybe one of the garage types could confirm re the tool though.

Hi L2 VXR,

Can you give me more details by an e-mail about your warranty claim? The link requires a log in but I'm more interested in getting it done for free if it is a warranty issue.
Jeff.

Hi Jeff,
after reading a few old posts about clutch fluid i checked mine and found black fluid with lumps floating in it so i pointed this out the my local monaro dealer and said i didnt think this should happen after only 9000 miles and that the service book states to change every 2 years which i thought was to long to leave this sludge in the system so they agreed to flush the system and refill with dot 4 fluid free of charge.

Paul.
