Anyone used this new service advertised by PC World?

www.thetechguys.com/ourservices/most_pop_services.shtml

Ad says they offer tech support for the price of a national phone call.

I would have thought you could get a great deal of that support by just posting a problem on PH :-)

Have you SEEN Sijie though under the 'meet the tech guys' bit?

Woof.

However I notice she wasn't a 'true' techie...

Funny how they use her as the main picture to lure you in rather than the others

I would be surprised if it's true technical support being run be experienced techs. More likley its a set of generic scripts to deal with the most common faults, anything that goes beyond this will be a punt to manufacturer, Microsoft or Sales.
My gut feeling says that a unit under waranty is a "phone manufacturer" anyway and out of waranty you'd be better off with a rent-a-geek appearing in your home to beat the machine back in to shape.

Goes without saying that the peeps here on PH can probably run rings around their phone techies

You'd have to as your home phone would certainly be on VoIP meaning that would go down with your Internet connection. yes

No don't do that. You'll make them cry and you will give the "Technical It Techie" a headache. Not nice on a Friday. hehe
