after getting a bum deal so far from insurance companies, my route to noise is taking a back seat. However am still keen on the rip shifter, what sort of price am I looking at to get one (including) fitted?

Couldnt find Caspys email but on Monkfish's site it is £450 and I would have thought Greens would be equally competitive

I had ripshifter fitted this week by LSV - well worth the money and Mark is always open to negotiation on price if you're having a few bits and pieces done. Just dont tell him I sent you because he was cursing and swearing at fitting mine - having seen whats involved first hand its nowhere near as simple as it looks on the instructions. You definately need workshop facilities to do it properly.

I take it you mean your insurance company either won't cover you for a performance exhaust or are going to charge the earth? Doesn't the same go for the rip shifter? Whilst not a "performance" mod, it IS a modification.

Or am I too honest and the chances of the insurance company finding out are next to nothing? Therefore you won't be declaring it?

Out of interest, is the rippy acknowledged by Vauxhall like the Wortec mods?

I can't imagine an insurance company charging much extra for an improved gearshift linkage, if anything. My company didn't want any extra for VXR brakes for example (A-Plan).

Its a brand name. Generally acknowledged to be better than standard shift but not as good as the ripshifter. Does the same job but for less money. B&W very popular in the states with GTO owners. I'd rather wait and pay the few quid extra. Think Mark at LSV said he's charging around 350+VAT to supply and fit the ripshifter making it around the 410 quid in total. I'd give him a call to confirm and check availability.

cheers, either monkfish or lsv are close by. After the help Brian has given its a shame hes nearly 200 miles away as if their service is anything to go by the way he offered help, I'd have gone down there.

Brian certainly has an outstanding reputation on here for customer support but as you say at that distance and I assume a large part of it on the M25 then the fuel bill is certainly going to add to the overall cost of the mod. You could always wait until its time for a service and combine the two. Think of the return journey as a learning trip for the new gear change.

might just do that, the mod I really really want is the exhaust etc but the insurance is making me bend over and accept things I dont like

Stigcv8, we can accomodate you next week. Please get in touch and we can sort out a suitable date to fit a genuine ripshifter.

By all accounts the rip is more solid, though I understand the B&M has slightly shorter shifts.

I thought that was the idea, shorter shifts not less play from side to side, touch paper lit...
