OK the M3 is a total loss. I've had a TVR, Maserati, Integrale and M3 (all be it for only 20 minutes). So what do I buy know? Must have a bit of go in it be equally as safe as it is well finished. I like leather and stuff. £6500.00 I have to spend and preferably unusual. Classics ( as long as they have some go in them) are welcome suggestions.
Waddya reckon?

Do you need four seats? Practicality? What. I could suggest everything from a Caterham to an Omega Elite 3.0...

What takes yer fancy?

For that you could pick up a superb condition original old Audi Quattro 2.2 Turbo? Classic, different, sticks to the road like a imigrant to a lorry, and very fast (quite tuneable too i believe).

Even though they're old, they are pretty damn reliable!!

Or you could pick up a nice 70's corvette.

But hey, maybe not, each to their own!!!

Yeah, a 1973 Corvette Stingray 454 with chrome bumpers
With a 7.5 litre chevy V8, makes the Griff/Chim sound like a milk float.

On autotrader they seem to go from £5k upwards to about £8k, but I reckon theres cheaper places you could source them from.

Last year I was on the verge of buying a Audi 90 Quattro (saloon) for £800!! The guy selling it reckoned it was an ex-SAS car used in Ireland! The engine had been souped up quite a bit (bored out to 2.5 by Audi - had a certificate and everything!, camshaft etc etc) It even had a bullet hole or two!!

But the point I'm making is that it went like sh*t of a shovel, the guy took me for a (very fast) drive in it and I have never been as scared as then!! It was cool! Flying round corners at 90 I wouldn't take at more than 55 in my Chimaera!

The quattro is a superb bit of kit, later ones look fantastic, sound fabulous and go like stink, you should find a goodun for £10,000. There is a specialist down south somewhere, just bung audi quattro into google and it'll come up. Running costs can be very high (LCD display £1000+)and all the difflocks need to be used regularly otherwise they'll sieze. Generally all the mechanicals are as tough as fcuk (destined for a lifetime rallying)

Golf or Corrado VR6? Goes like sh*t of a shovel with straight six refinement, nice interior and not too obvious.

I loved my Golf VR6

Volvo T5, BMW 6 series, Jag, Sierra Cossie, Audi S2, RS2...

You mean A&M?

Mate of mine used to work for them, top class reviews from him, one of two garages / dealers he's worked for and hasnt slated. (he's left to head up a Ford PDI centre...)

I saw a Carlton GSI 3000 24v for sale yesterday for £800, in mint condition.
Not sure on power (200bhp approx?) but rear wheel drive, a bit unusual and cheap!
