Has anyone bought or tried one of these? www.blackberrypearl.com/

I currently use a smartphone (I-Mate SP5M) to pick email and find it a great business tool. I used to work for Vodafone and had one of their blackberry's and while I thought it was very good, they were just to big and clumsy for me.

The Perl has now arrived and is smaller than my I-Mate while offering a lot more.

If anyone has any experience of one of these I would be interested to hear your thoughts on the device.

Thanks,
Lee.

Yes I have had one for about a week.

So far I am very impressed, but as yet I have to set up the email.

Thanks, Catherine.

Any problems or things you don't like with it?

I'm a fan of blackberry's but I couldn't live with one of the larger models!

No I can't really criticise it. The trackball is a wee bit tempremental at times and I had a problem last week where the keyboard appeared to lock up and the only thing I could type was letters. Removing the battery and then restarting it seamed to fix it.

It is certainly a lot less bulky than my N70 and a lot quicker. The N70 took an age to do anything.

I tried the N70 but I didn't really like the look of it.

I think the Perl will tick all of my boxes!

Thanks.

Well I ended up shopping with the other half today and am now the proud owner of a BB Perl!

I have just done the email set-up as well which was remarkably easy and after a test I get emails within 10 seconds of them hitting my account.

which service provider are you with?

I found I couldn't get emails if my pc/mac went to sleep (which it does the minute I go out of the house).

I am with T-Mobile. Took less than two minutes to complete.

I wouldn't agree with that, it is true that it doesn't contain some of the extra functionality that its big brothers contain but this is still a blackberry that fits in the palm of your hand.

I was amazed by how slim the phone is, nearly half as wide as my old I-mate SP5M.

I can see myself getting on with this phone for picking up email and replying.

It might look like the dogs bo**ocks but text entry other than one liners will drive you nuts

Text entry isn't too bad. The only thing I am finding unusual is the qwerty keyboard.

I've recieved mine the day O2 released it.

Like it, a good bit of kit. I'm in our Oz office for a couple of weeks currently. It's not out here until December, and there is some definate Blackberry Envy going on!
