Anyone know DMDX?
Discussion
hey,
i am attempting to help my gf program a test in DMDX but i cant find any really good explanation in the web of exactly how each command works. i want to work out how to do the following things:
1)create a participant paced experiment, but where the stimulus stays on the screen until the response is made (at the moment i can only choose for it to stay for a certain period of time, after which the participant can move the program on)
2)have headings which stay on the screen (as a reminder to the participant of what the responses mean). is this actually possible in DMDX without using bitmaps to represent the whole screen?
sorry to ask you all, but i have searched for ages, and experimented for a very long time to try and figure it but just cant find the best way of formatting it.
can anyone help?

Hi Chrissie, DMDX is a new one on me... and a quick view through google indicates it's a pretty obtuse language, certainly it doesn't read very easily for me. But there does appear to be a bit of a support network out there.
There is a LIST SERV here www.u.arizona.edu/~kforster/dmdx/list_serv.htm which you should probably subscribe to.
Also, why not contact Matt Davis www.mrc-cbu.cam.ac.uk/~mattd/ directly, he seems to be using this quite alot.
best

it is a bit of a strange one isnt it.
cheers for lookign for me, i hadnt found that subscription, so that could be quite useful.
otherwise i think you are right, in that contacting one of the people who created it may be the best option.
cheers once again
