Lambo trickle charger
Discussion
Not driven the car for a few weeks, and she is *not* happy. Battery dead, drivers side window not working properly and a check engine light on for the left bank. Lesson to be learnt, keep driving them !
Can anyone recommend a decent trickle charger for the Lambo, the rest can be sorted out at the service
One of the CTEK range will do the job safely, I've got an XS 800 on Ferrari and Porsche all the time, and I'm told it works OK on a mate's Countach. If a battery is well down it would be quicker to charge it conventionally first off, but the 800 will do the job with the battery still in the car if you don't need it for 48 hours or so. There are meatier versions too.

Jon,
I've tried them all over the years (on cars, bikes, quads and boats) and the best one IMHO is the Optimate (now on generation III) :

they are great because they can recover a battery from almost dead and can desulfate the battery as well - they come with flying leads which you can wire into the mega fuse for quick connection - or you can use the crocodile clips provided (one on the positive of the megafuse and one on any part of the engine block)

Jon,
if you connect it up and leave it - it will probably take about a day and a half to "re-charge" the battery. Then whenever you are leaving the car for more than say a week - connect it up and it will keep the battery in tip-top condition.
If you are desperate to get one quickly you will find most decent motorbike shops keep them in stock.

Save your money - just give me the keys when your not using it!
Hi Jonny, I purchased a trickle charger from Machine Mart(ATC12V £12) and I can reccomend it. It was a low cost charger that I just wanted to try, as I had an expensive one that failed after a few months.
I have used it for the past two years without fail and the battery is always kept fully charged. Every time I park the car back in the garage I attach the charger so it is always on charge and even over the winter period when the car is parked up for long periods, it keeps the battery in good condition.
Regards
Paul
