HELP - OIL FOR SAGARIS

5/40 Mobil 1 or silkolene Pro S or Pro R is fine ...just top quality fully synth (if you are over 6k miles) ...most have running in oil for 1K, then semi synth until 1st service at 6K mile
...prefer to run it on 10 or 15/40 myself - Silkone Pro-R ....seems to burn less and run smoother..done 8.5K miles in 5 months now in ours and its barely used a drop - about 1L

Carlbe is massive in the states and Oz, but not all that huge over here although a fantastic oil i am told. I have a carlube agent luckily in my home town but my handbook says use 0-40 after 6k. But they no longer make 0-40 in Carlube so i assume Mobil 0-40 is ok?
Am i right? I have a T350c 04.

then went to another guy to get aformentioned, he said thats not full syth?
then bought some carlube triple r 0/40(not put it in the car yet) even has tvr recomended on label, and looked though his oil spec sheets which said use 0/40.
i do not want to get this wrong.
also feel i`m getting false readings from the measuring gauge attached to cap.
i do have years of experience,but not with such a specialist engine.
so any help. out there?

Several trains of thought...The thinner the oil is when cold, the sooner it gets to the top of the engine, so in theory, the smaller the first number, the better it is. Thin oil also gets out of a cold engine much quicker!!
X8 Saggy - See what Mr Opie comes back with, but I suspect it will be 5/40 as a minimum.
Coincidentally I emailed Dom a couple of weeks back from Sydney to double check as he prepared the car for the export. We did the 12k full service a bit early at 10k miles just before it left. His exact words were:
"don't use fully synthetic, 10/40 semi synthetic only, any make"
If that's good enough for him, it's good enough for me.

Does it actually matter. I suspect there are more important ways you can take care of the engine, sympathetic driving when cold etc. I wouldn't worry about it too much, oil technology has moved on so much, the standards appear to be universally high.
only thing that i dont want to do is mix fully with semi,by accidentNot a Sag, but a T350...
Am now running mine on Magnatec 10W 40 on the recommendation of David Batty. He's been running his tuscan on the same for years and it's had zero problems. Good enough for me.
My car was back with him a couple of weeks ago, 5000 miles after the last service, and I got him to check the oil - had used none sine the last service. Mine had always been pretty good on oil consumption, but he didn't even need to top it up slightly!
