GT Purely Porsche mag
Discussion
I think it is called something like GT purely Porsche mag,,
has anyone seen this in the last couple of months?
I have bought it in WH Smiths a couple of times, mainly for the quality of the pictures.
Maybe i should just go & see Specialist cars at malton for their stock list instead..

Aside from the photographic quality of this magazine, in my umbel opinion it is utter rubbish. Definitely one to read in WH Smith, then put back (casts wayward glance at Mr Colbeck
)
I can honestly say that I've never read such poorly edited articles in a news stand magazine - shining example is the TechArt Boxster article in which you mention - the prose finishes in mid sentence without ending properly. For reasons why you soon see they repeat the first four paragraphs twice.
The other things that get my goat are, in no particular order:
1) Constant SCOM references - okay, I'm sure they're a more than competent dealer, but do they really need so much free advertising? Sordid mutual backslapping.
2) Crappy editorial / lack of sanity checking - see above.
3) Allowing editorial staff to post letters, then printing them - so cheap. And tacky.
4) Constant advertising their BMW related sister magazine - this despite several letters asking them not to - presumably their ad revenue is so poor, they end up using spare white space to "...advertising other magazines that our readers may find of interest..". Patronising bsatards.
No, I don't like it. And i don't like 911 & PW either - far too much gaffer tape type DIY nonsense - its sort of a Porsche magazine for people who creak when they walk.
So, in conclusion, the best Porker mag is PCGB's monthly effort - certainly the copies I've read have been superb.
Hope this helps!

I walked in to WH Smith at lunchtime & there it was..
the latest edition... GT3-tastic.
I had a quick look through & will definitely buy it on the way home...I can't juggle reading GT PP,pistonheads & choppy markets all in one afternoon.
One thing that was very interesting & I feel valid were comments by Mark Sumpter,,he said the car(GT3) was basically last years cup cars with the 380 bhp but were too luxxed up for the road in his opinion going away from the clubsport lightweight ideal.
Of further interest was that he said he knew several buyers of the original GT3 who sold it after a short while as they reaised they actually wanted a Carrera with a GT3 bodykit. He said that on British roads a carrera on 18" with sports suspension is probably a faster car than a GT3.
Nice to hear but a little suprising considering that original GT3 was the 1st production car to lap the ring in under 8 minutes. In my 2 visits to the Nordschleiffe I would say it was equally as bumpy in parts to the average UK B road..maybe he was talking about in the hands of the average driver?

What ?!?!?!
You don't think he's trying to sell more Carrera's do you ?
I haven't checked Paragon's site but I'm guessing they haven't got any GT3's at the moment.

PS CS, re. your Bromley Ferrari dealership question, I only managed to find out they'd stopped selling them as they weren't making any money. Don't know where the cars went, I'm afraid. The girl's brother was only a grease monkey after all. No offence 9M or any other mechanics reading this.

If you want a decent Porsche magazine, subscribe to the US 'Excellence'. Good technical articles, plenty from Bruce Anderson and his ilk - coverage on most models, too. Actually cheaper to get airmail than most UK crap mags. If anyone wants details, mail me and I'll give out subscrption addresses, can't be done just e-commerce.....
My tuppence, no affiliation etc.... Cheers, Maurice
