500 Fuel Guage - Inaccurate

Help required. Is there anyway of re-calibrating the fuel guage at all. When she is full the guage only reads 3/4. This is a nightmare as I am using the mileometer to check when i need refuel. It would be nice to have guage working correctly. Mine is a 98 Model.

You could take out the sender and bend the rod slightly. I did this on a Griff' when it used to read full until almost empty. Make sure you have a full tank when you do it though and a continuity bond is advisable.

I have often though about this, mine is the same and i still do not know when its empty ! Would be quite easy with resistors and then also add a "low fuel" LED when it is calibrated, could even adjust the level when getting low for the nervous types like myself. I did my oil pressure as it used to read around minus 15 before starting, now reads zero as it should. Ok sad, i know.

Yes, it's an easy fix. But get help if your not sure. Disconnect the wires first, I filled tank so there would be less chance of fumes. I would assume the rod would need bending down a little.
