Crappy wet afternoon, perfect for spending time scanning stuff into the pc.
Heres an old programme for Long Marston, how many racers on the entry list are still involved in some way or another ?

Have fun.

Bob Feeler is also still active, although not racing.
Eric Teboul´s brother is running Jet dragsters & Jet FCs in France,
together with his partner Vincent Perrot.
Including a two-seater Jet FC, where they take passengers.....8-)
And they still own (and run?) the ex-Sammy Miller "Vanishing Point" rocket FC,
now named "Satanique Machine".
(Their page is at www.perrotfeeler.com , in french but with pictures)
I have not been to french drag races in the past years,
but in the 90s the rocket was still driven by Bobby.
Both Bobby & Eric knew Sammy quite good,
without him Eric Teboul never would have got his rocket bike,
and he still dedicates every run to Sammy.
(By the way, he is fitting a larger tank to it to have thrust up to the finish,
and maybe we see some unbelievable times/speeds in 2007..)

I expect I was racing at that meeting , I only missed a few meetings in 12 years but I rarely got my race entry in in time to be included in the program . Mark P due you know what year it was ?.
I will still have race programs hidden away in boxes some where, one day they will see light again .

And it was renamed Avon Park in '87/'88 ? ,was it renamed at the same time we contributed £100 each to get the track resurfaced ?

Was just about to say I thought 86.

MartinD, who or what did you race ? I pretty much lived at either Avon park or the pod in those days, and raced from 89 - 91 I think.

Yes, very much so 1986. In fact it was the first ever combined car and bike international to be held at the Long Marston strip taking in the third round of the Euro Series for bikes and the first round for cars hence the appearance of Lex Joon and Henri Joosen in their Camaro's. Rounds one and two were held at Eindhoven and the Dutch F1 track of Zandvoort.

OK, if it was '86 then I would have been racing a red Plymouth convertible in street ,
race No. S1.

I have two 1986 programme entries for a 440ci '65 Plymouth Belvedere; July 19th/20th Summer Nationals at Long Marston (massive 33 street car entry), and Sept 13th/14th at North Weald. I have also just come across a picture of your championship winning Camaro on the cover of Pro Drag News as 1985 overall NDRC and Street Car Champion, hence S1 as your race number. The paper lists you ahead of Brian Huxley in second place by a mere 8 points.
