Hi,
Has the legality of using forward facing cameras been tested in court yet on the grounds of victimisation/discrimination? I ask because this type of camera, truvelo, specs etc... targets ONLY motorists with front licence plates. Vehicles without front plates, such as motorcycles, currently escape prosecution when detected by this type of device.
Cheers

Sod off - Bikers get enough of a had time as it is - they'll only make us have number plates again.

Anyway - they only target motorists with front number plates who are also speeding past a camera.

Surely all camaeras "victimise/discriminate" against generally law abiding citizens....

Scrotes cannot be done by speed cameras, since they do not bother to Tax / MOT / Insure their vehicles and are therefore cannot be traced.

Deester, Where TF was that?, white forward facing lights have been out of service for over 10 years now! In old East germany? They were removed because of the "accidents" wthat were caused by the blinding flash!
i.e. people used to deliberately mow then down when they "lost control" due to the irresponsible flash!!!!
Very costly for the cops (or their bosses) in many cases!

Further to the descrimination thing, all BiB in Germany have a Police Tradeunion sticker in their private cars, front left lower part of windscreen, so that the colleagues working in the gatsofilm department can "drop" them!!! BIBLE from a BiB (or boys in Green BiG here) whom I know very well. Needless to say these are a very sought after "accessory" in germany

John,

This was just leaving Frankfurt to the A66, the flash was not white it was red and flashed twice and was incredibly bright.

Matt.

Why not? they're certainly not copyrighted and I doubt if GDP are intelligent enough to know what was going on as the BiG here are not particularly bright! and after all you're advertising for a Union !!!!!! In a socialist state!!!

Just a thought..

Some sports cars (eg Jaguar E type) have the registration number on the bonnet, facing upwards, as oppossed to forwards, can these cameras see this type of registrations????

I would not have thought so, but remember only cars registered before August 1972 (I think) can have number plates like this, after that date and they have to conform to the standards in place at the time of registration.

As another alternative, I have seen a number of TVR Chimaeras with the number plate mounted below the grill, at a slight angle towards the ground, I wonder if these plates are invisible to forward facing cameras??
