E36 Climate Control

I've tried to RTFM but can't get to the bottom of this one...

I can only seem to get cold air out of the vents in the dash, even when setting the temp to 32C - if I select the windscreen or footwell vents then it heats up straight away - is this right??

I'm sure I read in the manual that it's designed to only vent cool/cold to the face vents. The middle vent in mine can be adjusted seperately from the climate for hot/cold.

However I always want cool/cold to the face so I haven't bothered too much with the settings anyway.

Yes, you may have the face-level blending dial on the cold air setting. twiddle it round to show three red spots.
