Wipers don't work in the wet!

Went to the Hants meet yesterday & left home in the rain, wipers working perfectly well, no problem. A pint of Pedigree, lunch and an hour and a half of rain later & the wipers had packed up. This morning the sun is shining and suddenly they work again.
Any ideas?
Have done forum search but nothing on this particular glitch!

I think its related to what RON petrol you are using. Its either that or your choice of CD is questionable.

Possibly bad connection on the wipers? Maybe you're getting water leaking into the park switch or something? Mind you that would cause the fuse to blow.

Don't take it for granted that rain has anything to do with it.
Check if the relay in the footwell is seated properly as a starting point.

This is one of the first things I'd check. I'd not expect it to cause fuses to blow as water is a pretty poor conductor. When water gets in that switch it is more likely to break a connection rather than short anything out.

p.s. barreti's point is well made though ... the damp could just be a coincidence

Thanks, chaps. Will start with the park switch & the relay. I'm fairly sure that water is the problem though, as it's happened once before, again in a real deluge. That makes the park switch a more likely candidate. Just got to wait for the weather to clear for long enough that I don't drown on the drive!
