Pischetsrieder presents the Papal Phaeton

Pope Benedict XVI has been presented with a specially equipped Phaeton by the Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, Dr. Bernd Pischetsrieder.

‘It is a particular honour for us to have the privilege of providing Pope Benedict XVI with a fitting limousine,’ said Pischetsrieder during the presentation in the Vatican City on Wednesday.

The extended wheelbase version of the Volkswagen Phaeton is finished in black and is powered by a 6.0-litre W12 engine with a holy 450 bhp.

Seeing as though Bernd presided over the sale of all the 'Rover' marque names to BMW...maybe the (cardinal) Wolsey limousine would've been more appropriate!
