I've got a '99 C2 with the standard CR-22 stereo. I'm hoping to replace it with a Becker Sat Nav unit - can anyone tell which units will or won't be compatable with the cars wiring as I'm aware the earlier ones like mine differ from the newer models.

Many Thanks

You have a pre-MOST bus stereo system (ie, a traditional non-optical fibre system). Any of the Becker systems should work fine.

I have the 7945 in mine and it's brilliant. You get SatNav with maps for all Europe, Blue Tooth Phone connection and you can transfer your address book to the 7945 so you get caller ID and can use the addresses for Sat Nav, Voice Commands, MP3 player via Compact Flash Cards and you can add the Becker Silverstone CD interchanger via the existing Porsche wiring and plugs. The interchanger saves you taking the Nav CD out of the head unit if you want to listen to CD's.

It looks very OEM. If there is a downside it's that you don't get a map to look at but the voice instuctions are very good and you get direction arrows on the single din head unit. Another minor neg is mine does not have full post code search but it's over a year old now so more recent units probably will have it. I've never found it a problem and it navigated all the way to Venice and back, via 2 different routes, in May.

I would thouroughly recommend it.

Ah now this is something I'm considering for my 1995 993 C2.

I just bought it, and it has a Sony cassette and 10 disc system.

I'd like a Becker 7945, or a Blaupunkt Travelpilot system.

Does anyone know of compatibility problems, or is my car old enough to be compatible with anything aftermarket?

Cheers,

Andrew Dryburgh.
