anyone done or thinking of doing?

my car has 343bhp and 297 lb/ft as it is.

looks and sounds promising, is this tvrpower de-cat chip required or is it part of the £750 price?

i might look into getting new leads and air filter prior to this just to see how much power is comming from the actual re-map and not just from replacing duffed items which were loosing power in the first place.

I had the de-cat chip anyway - they will modify whatever you have fitted.

It would certainly save time if everything was A1 before the event, but Tiv's have a habit of surprising you.....

If all is well with the car now, I suspect you wouldnt notice any difference.

A good service would probably be cheaper and more effective.

All IMHO of course.

Sorry mate - there was nothing wrong with mine in the engine department and you definitely WILL notice a difference!

Have you even read my link above?

And since when has a 'good service' been cheap?!?!

Yes I've read your link.

You maybe particularly tuned into your car and how it reacts and be able to feel that the fine glitches in the mapping have now been ironed out.

Alternatively you may just be easily convinced.

Or, again an option, you may feel the need to be convinced after shelving out best part of a grand to achive IMHO very little.

Good servicing is not cheap, nor did I suggest it was. Cheap is however a relative term, and good servicing IMHO is a better value for money than the purchase of snake oil.

I will now be slagged for suggesting you maybe easily pleased, or have easily parted with nearly a grand. I'm also sure that other posters, who make a very good living out of pig weighing, will be along to discount my opinion as ill informed tosh.

But I am keen to point out that this is all opinion...but quite well considered.

Oh, and just in case there is is still some doubt....I am not your mate.

I dare say not everyone will benefit to the same extent from a re-map. I had my Chim 500 re-mapped by Mark Adams at Austec and it gave a big improvement in the driving characteristics of the car i.e smoother acceleration with no flat spots and much better throttle response. No parts were changed during the process, this was all purely the benefits of having the engine re-mapped by someone who really knows what they're doing. I gained an extra 20BHP at the wheels and an extra 25LB/FT torque at the wheels. I now own a T350c and will almost certainly be having it re-mapped at some stage, either by Mark Adams through Austec or by Joo at Trackcar.

Not sure what I've said to offend you, but FWIW I call everyone 'mate'!
Maybe it's a 'darn Saarf' thing - but I'll refrain in your case from now on......

The servicing comment was supposed to be tongue in cheek.....

If that's your opinion on remaps - fine, but I think you'll find a lot of people - Cerbera owners in particular - that disagree with you.

I'm only reporting on my case; where the general drivability has improved and although I'm not going to get into the absolute figures on here (I think we all know why!) there is an approx. 10% at the top end. I would challenge you not to notice this on the road.

Sorry we disagree, but in the end you pays your money......

You took the words out of my mouth, i was going to ask what difference the remap made. I still believe remaps are mostly placebo effect.

Just my opinion matey hehe yer know that bloke in the bath.

A remap will make a difference as TVR do not map every engine individually and they are probably made with reasonably large tolerances.

Also most manufacturer maps have to contain a certain degree of tolerance for fuel variation, emissions, weather etc and so are innevitably a compromise.

However other than driveability it would be quite difficult to detect any moderate difference (say 10 - 20bhp) in power from the driving seat.

Personally I would say it is the service would not make any noticeable difference given the mileage that most cars are covering. Spark plugs and filters are not materially deteriorating after 5 - 6 000 miles.

Search Dave Andrews website for the facts on before and after mapping the K series engine.

And I hope youre happy with it...I'm still not convinced.

The next step to getting more horsepower is to try a different weighing station. The pig will still weigh the same, but you may get a reading above 300 BHP.

must say though the dastek dyno i used gives a far more acurate looking graph than that^ and is also much easier to read, and the scales may be differant but my power/torque curves looked quite differant to that, will digg them out and try post up

Well, I'm not so sure about it all, Austec said it wasn't set up properly so I should have it done, I went with that, I think it feels better but that could all be in the head? Wasn't too impressed with the graph either, looks like kiddies doodles

So what is Austec saying Power set it up wrong when Mr F owned it. I still believe re mapping is 90% placebo. I was under the impression that TVR's ran rich anyway.
