Typical of ITV's lowest common denominator style of programming.
Why was Murry doing the voice over, surely if James-Schumilover-Allen had a use it was to make an indepth and detailed analysis of Michaels career. Is this move by ITV a vote of no confidence for Allen.

I agree. I couldn't believe the program was only 30 mins long. It was very very poor. The scope for producing a decent documentary was there and they just gave us this thin review of his career. I've never liked Walker either and this just finished the program off. Why he was the voice of motor racing for 30 years, I don't know. He just made mistake after mistake when commentating.

Murray Walker was fantastic, a million times better than James Allen. He knew what he was on about, just got a little overexcited on occasion!
But I agree the programme was rubbbish. They could have made a 1 hour+ quality documentary about Schumi - showing some of his earlier stuff - F3, sportscards etc. Instead they gave us a quick half an hour review of his F1 career. I was pretty disappointed.

Perhaps because the voiceover was done Monday morning, when "The Cock" was just landing at Heathrow?
Wait.. anyone is better than James Allen, so comparing the two is not really very conclusive. Walker just made mistake after mistake. I just did not like his commentating, personal opinion.
When eurosport had their rights to cover F1, I would never listen to BBC. Ben Edwards and John Watson did a fantastic job. The current Moto Gp team is a good example of a commentating team.
If fact I find most of the ITV team annoying. Allen, Goodman and the other bloke in the pits. Steve Ryder and Brundle and Blundell are good.
What would be good, is if they brought back the F1 channel on sky. The commentary was brilliant and the different angles available. Can't believe they just scrapped it after one year.

Just dug out the documentary the BBC did on Schuey after he won his second championship in 1995. Very similar to the Senna one they did the year before. Excellent film, lots of in-depth interviews with Hill, Coulthard, Herbert and Brundle, plus Jochen Mass, Frentzen and the Bennetton team (so amusing to see Pat Symonds and especially Flav talking about him, plus Brawn in blue livery)
Then there's a bit with Johnathan Palmer explaining telemetry traces between Schuey and Herbert plus an ongoing interview with the man himself - who looked very young and wide-eyed then!
Also interesting is the analysis of Adelaide '94 - at the time not seen in context with Jerez '97, so the accusations were more mutterings and qualified with statements that "most other drivers would have done similar"
Just a shame that ITV cannot match the superb documentaries that the Beeb routinely put out and the Beeb no longer have an interest in anything as vulgar as cars...

Because Willi Webber signed a lucrative deal with RTL (German TV) that gives them near exclusive access to the driver at each GP.
i agree wholeheartidly with what has been said, the program was crap and not befitting a seven time world champ. Itv is a Joke. I remember a BBC Senna documentary from a few years ago that i taped and watched over and over it was fantastic, really wanted something like that for Shui but alas, half an hour of some bitter ave ex F1 driver and an old fart carrying on with himself, I wish the F1 would go back on the Beeb, as their moto gp coverage is very good (and no bloody adverts!)
