Can anyone recommend someone who can refurbish alloy wheels in the Herts/North London area.
Both front wheels on my Chim have been kerbed by the previous owner and are not as shiney as they could/should be.

Tony,

Be careful - scratches are one thing and can be plished out/respayed etc, but be really careful about dented wheels as the alloy can crack.

IMHO, unless you can get 'em X rayed for invisible damage bin 'em and get some new ones.

I recently saw an Impreza which had one of its wheels shatter at about 40MPH. The car was wrecked.

Rick,
Thanks but they are purely cosmetic. I think that over the years, previous owners have used loads of wheel cleaner and they are tarnished. Ive heard of a company that charges about £50 a wheel and gets them to look like new again, trouble is i cant remember their name!

Not much use to you, but there's a local company here that does them for about £30 a corner - had 2 of my P1 wheels done last year (were scratched only). They are like new now.

Ted took his to David Batty, who in turn use a specialist, they came up a treat.

Alternatively, I've been recommended BJV Engineering, based in Apsley near Hemel Hempstead.

Not got around to using them yet so can't comment myself.

I called them when I was looking at getting the M wheels done, but wasn't too sure on the guy - said he was only there from 4am to 8am each morning.....

I went to Pristing Alloy Refurbishment in Woburn. Fantastic job on the Wolfies, and quick turnaround. If you want new rubber for them they can sort that for you too.

I second that. These guys did a great job for me on a knackered set of wheels a few years ago.

I had some alloys that had cracked, sent them away to be re-furbished and they alloy welded them up, made sure that there was no buckles dents etc. Were like brand new when I got them back!!! Never had any problems with them since!!!

I used BJV back in October and was really pleased with the job he did (there're pics on my profile - you'll need to scroll down a bit). They still look as good as they did when I got them done, and come up beautifully every time I wash them.

He also offers a collection and delivery service which was useful as I didn't have to take any time out to get them to and from him.

wicked wheels
That's be www.wicked-wheels.co.uk. Mobile service, could be useful.

Anyone know what sort of prices they charge? This quote on their services page doesn't look promising for the punter (IMHO):

An extremely profitable partnership can be arranged with little involvement from yourselves
- guess who's pocket that profit comes out of!

FWIW, I had the wheels on my Rangie done at Pristine Wheels and I was chuffed to bits with them.
