Details Here

Play.com and Amazon are offering pre-order for £29.99 - Due for release 3/11/06.

Just from having a quick look on the site, it looks awesome. The range of cars is good and it looks like it will keep me occupied for quite some time.

So what does everyone else think? Has anyone had a go on a demo as yet?

Demo is a bit rubbish after Most Wanted. The organic modifications is very cool though, spent a while creating a set of deep dish rims for the Camaro. The terrible drift mode from the underground games is back, along with a blatant cash-in of Tokyo Drift which sees you take it in turns with someone else to race down the side of a mountain. Race mode was ok, but the handling seemed a bit sluggish compared to most wanted.

agree with above, modification has real potential but i'm not buying with that handling...having said that test drive original demo had pretty poor handling

Right, sat down to play yesterday morning and before I knew what had happened it was 6pm. This game is sooo addictive.

I don't agree with what was said above about the canyon racing. By far the best bit of the game.

I like the format as well (win races to secure 'turf' and build up your reputation as a racer). The selection of cars is good too. Started on the muscle cars and have moved on from that to tuner and then on to exotic.

It's good as well that they have gone back to night racing. The graphics are so much better and the racing feels a lot faster.

I like what EA have done with the 'tiers' of cars. It always frustrated me before that a Clio V6 could be just as fast as a McLaren SLR if tuned properly. In this game, your starter car will never beat the higher tier cars, no matter how much talent and modifications you have.

The only disappointment for me is the drift mode. I used to like this in the original games, but now it is just plain annoying. You can get a drift going to save your life and when you do, you just go sliding into a wall or off a cliff. Major pain, as it has potential to be quite fun.

Apart from that, not a lot else is bad about it. Apart of course from your 'crew' members AI. They will go for shortcuts etc no matter what. If you're in the way, tough.

Still. Well worth £25. The only problem I have now is trying to balance playing this and Canis Canem Edit!!!

You don't agree with what I said about the canyon racing? All I said was that it was a blatant cash-in of Tokyo Drift, which it really is. Was still pretty enjoyable though.

my mate got it on saturday and apparantly had done 70% of the single player in an afternoon...

he then took it back and traded it for TDU... (good lad!)

After playing the demo i had no intention of parting with 20 quid for this game.. perhaps when its in the tenner bargin bin next year i might, but otherwise im staying well clear!

The street racing parts are rather easy, but I can't for the life of me get the hang of the canyon racing. I seem to end up dropping back to 200-250ft and then pranging it over the side of the cliff. Similarly, I can't get a grip on the downhill drifting

Any clues for this one? Maybe I just need to change my car setup somehow.

Canyon races - foot flat to the floor, apart from let off a bit (no brakes mind) before the corners which you can go off on. Then floor it. Worked for me :hehe

I prefer games which are more like the real thing...

Well I sussed the first canyon. Forget the race, just tweak the engine/turbo/whatever for maximum acceleration and overtake the car in front in the first few corners. Stay in front for 10 seconds and you win. Less than 2 days play from this game and I appear to be about 75% of the way through it. Hmm.

think carbon is pretty crap in comparrison to Underground 2. Only had it a week and got to the final race and thats not playing it 24/7 probably only played it about 6-7 hours. Cant even be arsed to do the last race pretty rubbish. No match what so ever against Midnight Club 3: DUB

I had a quick spin on DUB Edition recently too...It is an utterly fantastic little game...I had it down as a run of the mill racer..but it`s on a par with the NFSU series....the driving is simplistic..but it`s just so much fun smashing through the city like the throttles jammed...the modifying/paint shop are tasty too..

Mixed thoughts on this - got the game but due to lots of work and other commitments I have only played for a couple of hours.

What I have experienced so far is that the game is good but it does seem to progress at quite a pace when compared with NFSU2 and NFSMW.

The three styles of car adds a new twist but doesn't really seem to make much of a difference (playing it in parallel with exotic and tuner). The wingmen seem like a good idea but so far I haven't been able to find a use for them as I've won every race outright regardless.

The demo I tried a couple of months back was awful and almost put me off buying it but I've had so much grief off the kids that I caved in (they won't get to play it before the end of term though - not going through that again). Now that I've played it though it certainly seems a lot better - no real grumbles thus far and enjoying what I have seen.

As for MC3UB being better - personally I would say that is one of the worst driving games I've experienced in a long, long time. The kids enjoyed it though so maybe I was missing something...

buggier than a buggy thing

cant believe how often PS2 crashes on loading screens with this, walls catch you out exciting short cuts, pressing back from modification screens always returns to same place, showcase any changes and exit out and hmm start all over again on applying your last changes.

completed t'other day ran through in muscle cars, but your told by Darius (anyone else expecting him to leap out with a big guitar and start singing britney spears songs? no just me hmm ok sorry) either way he mentions that the keys tohis car are available, really avaiable where? couldnt find it to drive it. would have looked more but restarting a canyon race, definitly the best part and hmm crashed again. will pick it up again in few weeks.
