How do I best warm up my T350?

What temperture should I wait for before driving it?

And what temperture do I have to wait for before giving it some welly?

Just take it really easy until warm, I don't think anything will speed up the process.

I've alwaysed waited for the oil to hit 50 degrees (the magic number!) before giving it some welly!

Ive been doing the following but i might be being over cautions.

Starting it up and waiting for it to reach about 30.

Then driving it but really going above 2500-3000 revs until it reaches 45-50.

Then driving it normally.

Play time commences at 60-70! bounce

hand book says 3000rpm until oil temp is 40, 4000rpm until 60, 7000rpm until 80, that's fair enough but do you just drive straight off after starting up or wait a while to warm up slightly?

1. Get driving straight away - don't leave it standing there. For a start, you'll be warming up the engine but not the gearbox, amongst other things
2. I always used to wait till the temperature hit 40-odd to go over 3000RPM and 60-odd before 4000 RPM in the Tuscan. However, after 20 minutes out this last Sunday night in the T350, doing a fairly constant 70-ish up the dual carriageway, it was STILL only just over 40 degrees. I was sulking by this point.

Once again I've got to say "What a car!" I get the urge to drive it all the time.

Its like a addictive drug you start thinking about driving it when getting up to your normal day to day things.

Me sometimes I rush home just so I can get it out of the garage. Warm it up and go for a spin.

No I let it warm up to about 30 before driving it.

Rules:

1. Do not leave to idle to warm up, ALWAYS drive off cold.
2. Never go above 3000rpm until oil at 60 degrees.
3. When at 60 degree feel free to smoke it.

My warm up procedure

Start car keep the revs up at approx 1200-1300rpm for 1-2 minutes, this keeps the oil pressure up and gets it up to the valve train quicker. Do not let the car idle when cold, your engine is at its most stressed when at idle or at full load.

Get moving as soon as possible keeping below 3000rpm until oil temp is 40 or above.
Your car should still be good for 60-70mph in 5th gear while keeping below 3000rpm.

Then I just increase the rev's relative to increase in the oil temperature.

Happy driving

I was advised by a very reputable TVR service dealer to follow the exact instructions given by V-GOM.

You should always drive the car straight away. The engine warms up much quicker that way, which reduces the time that it is exposed to low temperature damaging effects.

I follow the advice given! Ie start engine, engage reverse, take car out of garage and drive off. I never exceed 2500rpm till its at 50c then i go to 3000rpm until its at 70c, the I unleash the horses!

The dealer I bought my Sag from suggested;

1. Don't let it sit and idle to warm up - drive it, but with care and due respect!

2. Keep the revs sensible (no lights shining on the rev limiter) until you're seeing 50 on the oil guage.

3. After 50 you're safe to have some fun.

Try 65 degrees for the magic number

Most wear on the engine is when its just left to idle from cold

Point 4 might be to check your oil regularly, and to do it correctly - I usually open the bonnet with the engine still idling after a run, then flick it off and ferret out the dipstick. It's surprising how a few secoonds makes a lot of difference to the levels once the oil starts running back into the tank. If in doubt, put some oil in!!
