I'm a newb here, so go on, JONG me.

But after that, I took delivery of a Brera 2.2 SV on Saturday. It was the showroom model, so has a few extras on it, including Connect+
This is my problem: the manual for the gps/radio does not have anything in it that looks like mine. So far, I've only managed to get the navigation working OR the CD working, but not both at the same time - i.e. it will only take one disc.
What is my alcohol addled brain missing?

Hello, and welcome! wavey

I think that with a single CD player, you can either have the nav system or a music CD active. To have them both active at the same time, I think you need the CD changer option.

I might be wrong, though, so hopefully somone else can confirm or deny.

Thanks. That's what I was fearing (although, I'll mainly be using my iTrip)

Welcome Foxy.

Don't waste too much time in here talking about cars.... it's not a car forum you know

You want to head over to P&P to discuss religion or something *heh heh heh*

I'm pretty sure I've heard this before on other cars with single CDs.
It's one or the other I think.

OK i know its not an Alfa but on my MINI Cooper S its got a single play cd unit in the dash for the music cd`s and under the passenger seat there is another cd unit just for the navi cd so you can have both at the same time it seem ridiculous that you have to take your pick between one and the other

Yeah, my last car had the nav disc unit in the glove box. Cause I bought the showroom model this time, they may have had a disc changer for it, but forgot to install it before shipping. I'll go speak to them at the weekend.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Alfa, I sold them for years, yes it's either or I'm afraid, and also unless you agreed a changer with them good luck on getting one out of the dealer now.

i've got the Connect Nav + system in my 147 and an autochanger in the boot, but i found that you can use the sat-nav and have a CD in at the same time, if you set up your route first and then go to replace the navigation CD you should be prompted as to whether you'd like to save the route, and it should then store it in memory.

So it will store the map, etc, and keep on displaying it?
If that works, I'm happy enough. Thanks!

(it took me a while, but now that I've worked out how to get info on the instrument panel display, etc, it's great.)

Perhaps you can help with another question - I put my sim card into the Nav+, but I couldn't see how to search for phone numbers on the card - in the end, I just typed the number in to the Nav+ and dialled it that way.

Yep it should store the map and the directions. I did it all the way from my place to durham and it remebered everything, another useful feature Connect + has is that if you have your sim card in you can associate addresses to names on your sim card.

Not sure if the Connect + controls on the Brera differ to the 147, with mine i've got Main - Audio - Tel - Nav - Trip (i think that's the right order!) anyway if you select the Tel you should see phone book listed on the right hand side of the menu, if you select that you should be able to enter the first letter of the name using the wheel on the right hand side and it should show you a list from your sim card.

sounds about right.
The manual I had looked nothing like my nav+ - those buttons you talked about are down the left of my screen, there are a load of blank buttons along to bottom (context specific), and then the Tel, Mute, and a couple of others (I think) down the right. The CD goes in above the screen.
