Could we pick a venue near to a round of the Tuscan challenge, maybe all decamp there on the sunday.

Would be even better if we could somehow get a few 'display' laps in.

Just an idea, I know it may not be practical, but it would be fun.

Somewhere around the Lakes or N. Yorks moors could be a riot, some amusing roads for a start... AND some scenery!

Get googling and phoning guys you know the sort of venue we need. 50 bedrooms would be absolute minimum I would think. Even if we miss the boat this year for a different venue, any work done NOW will help for next years 5th anniversary - who'd have thought it eh bounce

I think getting a venue near one of the race venues/dates would be nice - at least it solves one clash!

Not neccessarily Dave, The racers may well want to attend BBWF and enjoy rather than race. Tricky innit.

Track type day @ Mallory Park - or similar.

Wasn't too keen on dragging my Wedge although those of us that went to Shakespeare Raceway had a good time watching the cars that did go up but - scratchchin think would be more up for a gentle driving round a race circuit.

Sorry Vix - dates can't be confirmed just yet but probably sometime in July/Aug. Suggest if you find somewhere get a list of their available dates. Event days would be Sat/Sun with most people staying the Sat night and some Friday and Sat nights. Happy hunting.

All,

One of the most important things for an event like BBWF is to try to keep it central - Dicky is spot on just north of stratford is really central but another important thing is to keep an open mind.

I would like to challenge everyone here to think were would make an excellent venue for an event that would attract 60 ~ 120 cars with around 60 rooms being needed locally.

Whilst a central event makes it fair for everyone - I guess we all would give some thought if the event was some where else.. if we don't agree then majority wins.. fair.

So - find the location, accomodation and it's local attraction to wedge drivers and post it here for discussion.

Here are 2 :

Ettington, Slightly south of central, good facilities away from tourist hordes, roads and scenery average, close to drag race strip and Silverstone, confitable because we have all been there, down side .. we have been there and it's easy.

Hotel in Builth Wells (south Wales), load of us wedgers went there last Christmas, Big car park, reasonable rates, really excellent roads (Brecon Beacons), not very central,, etc.

So long as it doesn't clash with Le Mans I'll go to wherever is chosen! Though I'd be a bit wary of Wales with the speed limits and their draconian tolerances! Them Dutchies wont understand 70.05mph is a ticket

Ok - just a couple of ideas to start with (both rates are specially discounted for groups)and include dinner, bed and breakfast. The cost is per person per night:

Hilton Hotel, Bromsgrove (just off M5 / M42)
£108
Ample CCTV parking at side of hotel. Parking costs £3/night.
Availability: July/Aug - no problem

Raven Hotel, Droitwich (close to M5)
£80
Secure underground barrier parking for up to 150 cars
Availability: end June only

Where else would you like me to look?? Are these prices in the right range?

Richard - maybe you could give me a call at some point so we can discuss in more detail? I will e-mail you my contact numbers.

Now that would be something. 100 Wedges starting up in an underground car-park I can't wait! Where do I sign?

Hayley hotels that run Ettington chase have another conference centre that my firm used last year for a meeting, Eastwood Hall in Nottinghamshire. It's got a huge car park and the rooms are good too. Although the centre is a bit spread out area wise, the exercise staggering back to your room will do you good.

It's about ten minutes from Jnctn 27 of the M1 heading west. Good access to the Peak district and not far from Chatsworth house if you wanted a walk on the Sunday and to take the wife elsewhere etc.

Just a suggestion.

PS As the car park is pretty big, how about an autotest ?

I have a client not far from Holmes Chapel, ISTR there are some quite nice roads around there; Jodrell Bank telescope nearby, few minutes from the M6 south of Thelwall viaduct...
