The 'parental control' tool in my installation of Norton internet security is blocking www.pistonheads.com - it has it classified in the 'weapons' section eek. Are the anti-car lobby trying to make a point, do you think?

Sorry to point and laugh, but are you using Norton because you are forced to by work?

If not, get rid of it PDQ. It has a massive footprint, and is not necessarily as good as it pretends to be.

This is the standard reply I have given on other forums as to what I consider the best configuration for home computers...

1. ZoneAlarm ( www.zonealarm.com )

2. Ad-aware (www.lavasoft.com )

3. AVAST ( www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html )

(optional) 4. Spybot Search & Destroy ( www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html )

5. Firefox ( www.mozilla.com/en-US/products/download.html?product=firefox-2.0&os=win&lang=en-GB ) - to replace internet explorer.

And now your computer is as tight as the proverbial duck's arse, and all for free!

...oh, and you can also go to www.antivirus.com and run Housecall, again it's free, but it is not a resident piece of software, so I'd only recommend that you use it if you think some of the other programs have missed bits out.
