Griff timing

Hi all I am going to strip the dizzy this weekend and install a new vacume advance unit what is the correct strobe light timing, I think its 26 degrees at 3000 rpm from memory cheers Jason cook

28 Deg. @ 3000 rpm Vacumm advance pipe off, is what most set it to.
But as the Bible says not all engines are tho, so i would make a note of what its set to at the moment with your strobe before stripping the dizzy.

When i installed my cam and DTI'd the TDC, i found mine was 3 degrees out according to the front pulley.

Just something to check?

The vac advance can be replaced in situ, no need to remove or strip the dizzy. It's nominally sealed for life and unless you're got a dead pickup or want to change the advance characteristics there isn't much to fix in there - lots to b*gger up though.

All the more reason to check what the timing is before you remove it as Bluebottle said.
