Ticking Clock Noise

I've been meaning to post this one for a while but as I've just got in and its fresh here goes.

Does anyone know what the noise I'm hearing (normally when I am breaking or slowing down) that sounds like a ticking clock - sounds like its behind me under the car. sorry for the lame description, any thoughts would be apreciated.

Try here for solution...been doing research myself for this weekend. Some liquid gasket thinly applied to the back of each rear pad stopped the clatter for good.

It only took about 35mins per wheel...now to get rid of the terrible squeal!!!

Hmmmmmm, is there a Crocodile in the boot?

Possibly the relay in the passenger footwell, mine used to click, changed it then all was well, I think it was something to do with the starter/imobiliser.

I wouldn't describe it as a stone in the tyre but then again my description is pretty rubbish. I guess a more accurate description is a 'chugging' noise.

How about fuel surge depressurizing the fuel rail and causing the fuel pump to jump up a cog to accomodate.

The ticking and eventual fading could be the fuel pump.

Ok, A bit over my head Julian - but if thats the case is there a bill for a new Fuel Pump looming??

As crazy as this may sound, its worth checking all of your tyres. I once had a 3" flat nail (the type used for nailing skirting board) in the tyre of my RAV4. It went in at a 45 degree angle and so some of the head was always exposed to the road. And guess what, it made a ticking noise when going along which changed frequency with speed.

I had a Tic Tic Tic noise in mine about 6 mths ago and it turned out to be a small crack in the passengers side manifold, luckily it was at the top and could be welded in place.
