Bonnet release
Discussion
Has the cable actualy snapped, or just not completely releasing the bonnet? If it's snaped, maybe worth seeing if you can intercept the cable somewhere and use the remains to release the bonnet. Otherwise, if you can get at the latch, it is possible (but bl**dy awkward) to insert a wire hook between the latch plate and the spring and use that to release the latch.
Hi
Try getting a colleague to press down on the bonnet directly above the catch to relieve the spring pressure while you gradually pull the release handle - don't snatch at it.
If that fails try releasing the handle from the underside of the dash and pulling the release with the inner/outer cable straight rather than bent - there is usually a lot of slack in the cable under the dash, etc.
