I was wondering if this will work
I know I will have too grind and resin tissue the fractures,but was thinking of leaving maybe 10mm strips of existing paint finnish so iv'e got a guide to block back to,then dremmel and resin(or will bog do?) the fractures to the stips that are left.
Thought this would be the easiest way of keeping the shape as there are some big area's to do.I'll also be giving the back of the panel another layer of matting to help the intergrity.
Its for a racecar so doesn't have to be the flashest,but I don't wont the fracture's to show up after painting.

The way I do it on my race car is to grind the back layers of glass down to the back of the gel coat then re-glass it from the rear. When this is cured I then grind the front down to the new glass fibre and either add a layer of mat to the front or just fill with body filler and rub down for a finish depending on how strong I want it.

edited: As long as you get rid of all the old fractured glass I wouldn't think it matters how you do it, you just may be making more work for yourself the way you describe.

I've ground out the gel coat and into the glass fibre over the cracked areas then apply resin, a couple of layers of tissue and more resin. Use a long block when sand ing the filler( 2 foot lump of 3x2 in my case and decorators roll abrasive paper (10mtrs for a tenner or less) to rub the filler back. www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=319107&f=47&h=0
