Can anyone please shed some light on this problem?

I have 3 POP3 accounts running from my desktop PC all going to the same mail server at my ISP.

With two of these accounts, I get emails from some (the same) people in duplicate or even triplicate. More often than not, I will get 2 copies in my Inbox and 1 in the Junk Mail.

In my account settings, I have it so that copies of mail are left on the mail server for 1 or 2 days, but are deleted from there when I delete the message locally. I also have, over a period of time, tried to sort out incoming email using 'email rules'.

Where am I going wrong then and why does it happen with just some people who are sending things through to me?

Of course you'll get it in triplicate if 3 accounts are getting messages from the same server. Or am I missing something?

you will be running some rule - make sure you've ticked the box that that says - And stop processing rules.

Thanks for the tip off, I have deleted all the rules and will start again to see how it fairs from there. Not so familar with this part of Outlook.

I am having the same problem with Outlook, but am receiving hundreds of copies of the same messages mainly through one of about 10 accounts. I have 6 computers all receiving multiple copies, the quantity depending upon the automatic send/receive cycle. All of the computers were up to receive e-mails long ago, all have rules set up, and no changes have been made to any of the computers. I suspect that the problem is with our e-mail provider, but they claim not. As I have been the using the same set up to receive e-mails and haven't made any changes I think the problem is at their end. Any ideas?
